I didn’t hear the ambulance

If you ever drive a motor vehicle, this story is for you. Safe driving requires good vision, hearing and good reflexes. Otherwise, you are a safety hazard other people as well as yourself.

We had a client one time that was driving on the highway and he did not have his hearing aids on. An ambulance had put on their lights and siren behind him and they were unable to get by him for some distance, they did get by him eventually but not without writing down his license plate and reporting him to the RCMP.

The next day the RCMP showed up at his door questioning him about the situation and the man explained that he had not had his hearing aids on so he did not hear the ambulance until they were almost by him. The RCMP officer said that he was not going to give him a ticket this time around but for him to always wear his hearing aids for safety reasons whenever he was driving.

This person now wears his hearing aids whenever he is behind the wheel. We think this is a success story because he now realizes that wearing his hearing aids is for his own safety as well as the safety of others. It was a lesson learned the hard way and we hope this story will inspire you to follow this person’s lead.
